*Parking at Athletic Hall; shuttles from 7:50 am – 9:30 am to Maht Mahs
12:00 pm – 3:00 pm – Celebration @ Athletic Hall

Truth & Reconciliation Challenge

Calling ALL Alberni Valley Local Businesses!!

This year Tseshaht First Nation is hosting our 5th Annual Walk & Celebration for Orange Shirt Day, and issuing a challenge to ALL local businesses!

For businesses closing their doors to reflect this Orange Shirt Day (National Day for Truth and Reconciliation); we challenge you and your employees to:

  • Walk with our community (event information above)
  • Educate your staff about this day and Indian Residential Schools in Canada and/or the Alberni Indian Residential School (AIRS), see resources below
  • Share the TRC 94 Calls to Action on your social media channels
  • Share on your Social Media Channels why your business is closing on this day and why this day is important to you and your employees
  • Share links and information about residential schools

For businesses staying open to reflect this Orange Shirt Day (National Day for Truth and Reconciliation); we challenge you and your employees to:

  • Donate a portion (any amount helps) of your day’s profits (after expenses) to supporting Tseshaht First Nation carve a memorial totem pole in honour of AIRS Survivors and those who passed away as students of AIRS. Donations can be made by
    • Cheques: payable to Tseshaht First Nation
    • E-transfers: donations@tseshaht.com
    • Please ensure there is a note on the cheque or a letter included in the donation is intended for the “AIRS Memorial Pole
