I am a grandson to the late Thomas (Washe) Watts & late Louise (Hetux) Watts. My father is Dave Anderson and my mother is Isabel Anderson (Watts). My great-grandparents on my grandpa’s side are Watty Watts of Tseshaht and Eva (Lal) Thomas also from Tseshaht. My great-grandparents on my granny’s side are Maggie Louie of Huu-ay-aht and Harry Mountain, a Chief from Alert Bay.
Born and raised in Port Alberni, I have been a part of the Tseshaht Community since birth. I started gillnet fishing at the age of 13. I have two inspiring children and a strong, supportive wife.
After completing high school in 1996, I moved to Victoria to attended college. I received a Diploma in Internet Programming and a Journeyman Certificate in Carpentry. I also recently spent two years at Camosun College studying electronics and renewable energy systems. Along the way, I met my wife and we had our two children. Tired of living in Victoria, we moved back to Tseshaht Territory in August of 2015.
I enjoy drumming, singing, learning our language and participating in community events. I strongly believe that using natural medicines, eating local/organic/in-season foods, and alternative health care is the way to healing our people.
My vision as a councillor is to help build a community which is self sustaining, is tied strongly through culture, and will encourage other members to return home. I am truly thankful to be a part of the strong, positive change Tseshaht is seeing within our Tribe.
